Ah, Kaoru, throughout the multiverse of comic continuities, nothing can retcon how much of a douche you are.

Douche though he may be, he's still our mostly-lovable goofball of a douche.

I thought I could be rid of the art style that once melted my heart, but alas it id thy will of the Fur God that we be united once more.

Leave me out of that 'our,' and you can keep him. He's so full of sadistic, unlikeable, self-obsessed, abusive smugness that he'd lose to Zack Morris in a 'basic human decency' contest. It's like he's under a gypsy curse that will make his penis explode if someone gives even questionable consent around it.
Did hamarist and kitaness realize that too many people liked the endearing characters in Sheathe and Knife, so they had to cram all the despicableness of Jay Naylor's character roster into one hyperdensity douchenozzle? Because huge fucking success, guys.

I don't think he's quite that bad most of the time. He just comes off as an arrogant horndog of a teenager. And I think he's usually kind of a goofy dork about it, that is, I don't think it necessarily comes from a mean-spirited place.

I know this is weird to say considering how we usually dig into the comics, but I think you might be getting just a little too into it. It's one thing if it's just picking things apart for fun, but I don't think that level of criticism is entirely warranted here. A Naylorism accusation isn't something to be used lightly, and I really don't think Kaoru is at that level at all. Not even in this one where you get to see him about at his worst.

Also I'm not sure if "fursona" is the preferred term for this situation, but Kaoru is one of Kitaness' personal characters. The writing of Kaoru's personality (actually pretty much all of the writing in general) falls entirely on him. And Kaoru's been around and acting this way well before Sheath and Knife was a thing.

There seems to be a lot of emphasis on the "d" there.

I'm guessing it's going to be a running joke for the titles, considering this previous comic:

Kitaness' submission page even titles this as "AJ Gets the D 2" flat out.
