MemberI honestly just feel bad for Red. He is clearly just not aware of what is actually going on, and is just trying to cheer up someone he cares about. I think that while yes, Elh has plenty reasons to feel hurt, he is also not making it easy for Red to have a chance at making things right.
The idea of their sexual encounter is based on the lie that Elh is a biological male. The whole talking point was whether Red would be into sex with a male. I get why Elh didn't immediately come clean about his genitalia, but to punch him in the face for what is a pretty normal reaction, context considered, is honestly not the way to go about it. And even then, after Red was punched, he tries to comfort Elh, albeit with words that unbeknownst to him only make Elh's dysphoria worse. But I feel like people here are giving Red too much shit for just trying to understand and help. He's ignorant, not malignant.

The people in the comments who keep criticizing Red need to that we have the context that Elh is a trans man, because of the tags, but Red has no idea what's going on. He's literally a virgin trying to experience sex for the first time, doesn't even mind if it's with a man, and Red seeing a vagina on Elh is confusing the crap out of him. This isn't to dismiss Elh and it's totally understandable why he's reacting the way he is. I'm just saying a lot of the people in the comments need to chill out and let the story unfold.

I don't think Red deserved to be punched, but I also don't know how much I blame Elh for having that reaction. it's a very difficult situation.

MemberI feel the people being critical of Elh here need to understand that he likely came into this already very scared Red was going to see him different or possibly even do something that would hurt him a lot. Maybe Elh should've been honest about this, but it wasn't a move to purposefully "deceive" or "trick" Red. Maybe Elh shouldn't have hit him, either, but people who are scared and suddenly dropped in a stressful situation don't exactly think or act rationally a lot of the time.
They both made mistakes here, but Elh is the one who is particularly hurt here. Red is approaching this with both his well known "not thinking before he acts" attitude, and with his stupid streak in the worst way possible. And it has hurt someone who loves him very much and he keeps doubling down on it.
He isn't doing it on purpose, but the damage is all the same here. I don't think we should blame either of them beyond calling Red a moron, this is a touchy interpersonal issue based around a very sensitive subject. Elh was happy Red saw him as a man, and is now very, very hurt that the person he loves is (unwittingly) suddenly being insistent on calling him a girl. He's trying to comfort Elh, yes, but intent doesn't remedy the wounds inflicted.
Only we, the viewer, knows Elh is a trans man and as such is a man, but communication is the important part for them. Not blame. Not pointing fingers. You don't heal these kind of wounds with blaming someone for a mistake.

MemberWhile I understand that, the problem isn't that Red doesn't know or is confused, it's because he’s acting like he suddenly knows what's up. Elh is struggling to communicate all this (which is a flaw) but Red is making assumptions instead of asking questions (until now atleast.) Worst of all, Red assumed that this is all deception for his sake, which is gross for a person in his position.
It makes me mad for two reasons. I've seen real pepple like this! The way they act isn't due to their ignorance, it's because they don’t try to understand and assign blame prematurely when their partner has an outburst. Secondly, it's painful know how much pain Elh is persevering. The fact he's still there, still wanting this but getting hurt in the process making sex seem like a really bad idea. It'd be nothing but a miracle if Elh could keeping going forward with this without hurting himself.

I was already like 50/50 on him being trans from when I started reading (although that was mostly meta knowledge of the kinda stuff the artist makes), but I think it was pretty clear that's 100% what was up by page 19, way before the lore tags started being added. also, ignoring that anecdote, pretty much every commenter on every patform gets that he's trans at this point, not just e6.
our advantage isn't knowing that he's trans because we can read the tags, it's that we know what a trans person is. that's the context that he's lacking.
