Description

Sky Blue Poison Dart Frog or Hyloxalus Azureiventris is one of (MANY) Poison Dart Frog species from South America. They're found in a small area of Peru.

Most of dart frogs only measure up to 1-5 cm in length, but, as the name suggests, a lot of them use a rather unpleasant poison for self-defense. In the wild, this poison comes from their diet, so captive frogs can actually be toxin-free. The "dart" in their name comes from Native Americans using frog's secretions to poison blow darts. However, only a few species are actually dangerous to humans and, outside of darts, poison is only effective when consumed, so don't lick poisonous frogs. Or, better yet, just don't lick frogs in general.

Threats:
- Habitat destruction
There isn't a lot of research on these guys due to how reclusive they are. Considering their already limited habitat, it's presumed that human development in the area poses a big threat to them.

Sky Blue Poison Dart Frog is currently listed as Endangered.

Theme for this day was Rainforest/Poison/Water and it felt like a direct frog bait. A bait that I gladly took, since when else will I get to draw a frawg? And there's some water there, duh.
It's one of those cases when I'm not even sure if I'm drawing the right animal since so many species of them look so similar. Plus, on top of that, every species has about 20 weird color morphs that are also very similar to each other. I just hope it's the right one, lol.
