What's the deal with the dangly bits on their hats?

There's going to be lore about that.

They used to be proper feather plumes, but healthcare is a very stressful job.

  • Someone REALLY needs to talk to Ran about personal space. :P

Also, my assumption of the wibbly hat-bits is twofold:
    1. It could be seen as a stylized moth antenna. I know moths have two, but maybe that looked too silly.
    2. It helps the medics be seen in a crowd. It would stand up above most humans, anyways, and thus be noticeable.

I was figuring the dangly bits were a "Cells at Work!" reference.

  • Could just be a way to help identify them out in the field like how are medics had a big red cross.

My bet, given how the artist worldbuilds? Bloodseeker plume. The tips seem to orient towards sources of blood and may generally give the medics a vague idea of where the trouble is simply by glancing up.

  • I’ve been checking valsalia’s fa page for over 2 weeks so I could be the one to post the next page here, and it gets posted the one night I slip up & forget to check. Harumph.

It's the radio antennae they use to receive and transmit emergency calls directly from their brains.
