Huh, no such thing as birth defects? That's pretty cool. What counts as a birth defect though? Is there no autism in this universe? What about albinism? Dwarfism? ...I can't think of anything else that's similar but there must be more.

Well, autism is not a birth defect, it is highly genetic if that's what you mean

As someone with autism this just rubs me the wrong way immediately.

You probably don't mean much by it though.

If it helps, autism is just an alternative wiring of the mind. Not much else, really.

  • Wasn't the flipper thing caused by thalidomide and not inbreeding tho, like theoretically if Purple Bad showed back up and tainted the water supply...

To be fair he probably ment the more disabling kind. Ive met someone who had it really bad, couldn't speak and was essienally an infant in mind despite being 10 or so.

Mine just makes small talk almost impossible which is kind of necessary if I am to get a girlfriend. To say it is a struggle is an understatement

This coming from someone who is autistic, autism is an umbrella term for a wide variety of things. And it can be considered a birth defect caused by reproducing with someone that is too genetically similar to yourself.

are you insinuating that incest is the cause of autism?

I think they didn't word it correctly. While incest will not cause autism, incest can increase the likelyhood of the offspring having it.
Since autism is a mutation in a gene, and that mutation is recessive, apperently any of us could be carrying such a mutation.

I never really looked into what is autism exactly, nor ever made assumtions..so kinda funny, a furry nsfw website made me learn. So I wrote down an explanation of what it so someone who also doesn't know might learn a new thing

  • Incest can also cause your slit to spontaneously turn into a sheath (yeah how's THAT for a callback?)

It's not actually a recessive gene. There are recessive genes that contribute to it, but no one specific cause for autism has been identified.

While that may not strictly be incorrect, using the label of "birth defect" to describe autism is risky, as it can reinforce existing stigma against autistic people.

I don't know about any stigma regarding it.
In my case, it was ed down from parent to child. My half-brother is the same.
