Just to understand the situation. I made a browser add-on that allows you to mark authors on e621 with different colors, depending on the number assigned to them. It's just editing the background color of the author teg. And the maximum is 5, that's the red color.... Just like in rpg games. 1- white, 2- green, 3- blue, 4- purple. 5- red... 6 - Now what color should I assign to THIS one?!?!?!?!?! Rainbow? Or even a gradient with animation...

A version properly compressed and transcoded from the original would be better. The mega version has only half the resolution for whatever reason.

MemberThere is a large amount of compression artifacts in this version if you look closely, mostly due to Twitter. Audio should be the same, and the resolution is, but the video compression in this is way worse. Directly transcoding from that 900MB file would lead to a significantly better result (though it is rather limited in what can fit in 100MB, but not this limited).
If you want to see the artifacts: the sharp lines tend to come through pretty well due to how the compression works, it preserves those well, but the details in the softer transitions really does not. Any color area with a gradient shows it (the banding is just due to how rgb works without dithering and is probably the same in the original, the random jagged lines everywhere is due to the compression).
The characters have pretty flat colors which compresses well while still looking good, but when there's shadows (like around the 2 minute mark) the compression shows strongly.

But yes you're defo correct, compression always loses quality, NO MATTER what. I personally didn't see what you were mentioning but I wasn't paying absolute attention to potential artifacts in the video, and typically I just have e621 audio off. But I will agree with you. But for casuals I would say the current version is alright.
